What is a Sport-Études stay?

This is an immersion stay in a local Irish school, of flexible duration (term, semester or full year), during which the student attends classes while practicing a sport intensively. Indeed, when we say intensively, we’re talking about several training sessions a week, sometimes even competitions or graded matches. And when we say intensively, we’re talking about several training sessions a week, often in a club or school team, sometimes with official matches, competitions or tournaments.

What sports are available?

Your child can choose the discipline he or she is most passionate about. Here are the sports most commonly practised on our Sport-Study trips in Ireland:

Two formulas, two atmospheres!

Sport in the host family (room mode activated)

Your child is welcomed into a family where sport is a real passion. The result: regular training, integration into a local club, possible competitions… The perfect opportunity to progress in your sport while sharing the daily life of an Irish family.

Good to know: for riders, you can even bring your own horse!

Professional sports… at school!

Some Irish schools offer top-level sports programs, such as rugby, soccer, horse-riding, basketball, swimming and so on. From then on, your child joins an official team, trains several times a week, plays matches, takes part in tournaments and benefits from qualified coaches… In short, this is the ideal option if you want to keep a real structured sporting rhythm all year round.

Schooling in Ireland

Linguifamily offers complete immersion stays for teenagers aged 12 to 18, who want to discover a new school system while maintaining their commitment to sport.

Your child will attend a local school (public or private), in a class appropriate to his/her level. The Irish teaching approach is renowned for its benevolence, its participative approach and its openness to the world.

And best of all: a full academic year in Ireland is recognized as equivalent to a year in France. This means that your child will be able to return to his or her studies without difficulty. For shorter stays (term or semester), we advise you to discuss the matter with the head of your school, as validation depends on the school.
